{TAxT 桃園科技藝術節 參展團隊} 米卡·塔哈尼拉 Mika Taanila 與埃爾基·庫倫涅米 Erkki Kurenniemi Mika Taanila為芬蘭知名電影人與視覺藝術家,創作包含了以傳統語言進行的紀錄片作品,與前衛影像裝置,其中以Optical Sound (2005)、The Future Is Not What It Used To Be (2002)與Futuro – A New Stance for Tomorrow (1998)最為著名,除傳統於電影院放映能看到他製作的電影外,他的電影與影像裝置作品更常見於藝廊、美術館等。 無法想像的未來 由Mika Taanila所拍攝的影片”FUTURE IS NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE”從電子音樂編曲家、實驗電影製作人、電腦動畫家、機械工程師、發明家、未來主義者等,出生於芬蘭的Erkki Kurenniemi身上混雜著科學家、人文主義者、藝術家的身份,甫歿於2017年的他於北歐國家為人熟悉,於此之外卻鮮為人知,直到2012年的展覽才稍打開國際上的知名度,這次於TAxT展覽中復刻他創作的電子音樂合成器,以及紀錄片,讓台灣的我們能對他更有認識。 Mika Taanila is a celebrated Finnish filmmaker and visual artist whose works include documentaries in traditional language and avant garde video installations. His most recognized works are Optical Sound (2005), The Future Is Not What It Used To Be (2002) and Futuro – A New Stance for Tomorrow (1998). While his films are screened in conventional theaters, his films and video installations are more often found in galleries and museums. Future Is Not What It Used To Be Mika Tannila’s film Futre is Not What is Used to Be depicts the story of Finland born Erkki Kurenniemi, who was a techno musician, experimental filmmaker, CGI artist, mechanical engineer, inventor, and futurist all in one. This scientist, humanist, and artist, who passed away in 2017, was barely known outside Sandinavia. He started to gain international recognition after an exhibition held in 2012. {TAxT 桃園科技藝術節 參展團隊} 亞歷·蘇瓦明尼 Jari Suominen 音樂家、新媒體藝術家和研究者,赫爾辛基阿爾托大學新媒體碩士學位的Jari Suominen現居芬蘭圖爾庫,同時為電子樂團Shogun Kunitoki、迷幻電子二重奏樂團Jarse、民謠搖滾Kiila與藝術組織Anna Breu成員,在音樂工作之外,也持續進行電子與軟體裝置的設計創作或與不同夥伴合作,長期投入關於芬蘭電子藝術先驅Erkki Kurenniemi與其工作的研究。 DIMI-A 復刻版 1970年誕生的DIMI-A,是芬蘭的媒體藝術先驅、發明家Erkki Kurenniemi(1941-2017)所設計的最具代表性的裝置,透過數位科技探索電子聲響的可能性。DIMI-A的設計包含記憶卡和一組音序器,於兩側對稱設計排列的金屬觸控點上進行合成編曲,左側為參數的選擇,右側則為輸入值的調整。在當時,創造的素材於數位儲存可多達256步驟涵蓋於100個項目設置之中。然而,創新的使用者介面與粗略的市場行銷,導致這個裝置從未能大量生產,僅僅生產了兩組。而今日,這兩組裝置分別收藏於赫爾辛基大學電子音樂工作室及Musikverket(瑞典藝術展演中心)。本次TAxT特別邀請長期投入Erkki Kurenniemi研究的Jari Suominen。他將於展覽中帶來媒體考古計畫《DIMI is Reborn》中的DIMI-A復刻版。 Jari Suominen A musician, a new media artist and a researcher, Jari Suominen (b. 1979) lives and works in Turku, Finland. He has received MA in new media from Aalto University, Helsinki. Currently he is active member of electronic psych group Shogun Kunitoki, psychedelic power duo Jarse, folk rock sextet Kiila, and art collective Anna Breu. Besides his work as musician he has been creating, designing and building installations, electronic gadgets and software himself and to (/with) others. He is most comfortable exploring themes of minimalism, psychedelia and naive misuse of technology in different contexts. He is also doing research on Finnish electronic arts pioneer Erkki Kurenniemi and his work. DIMI-A (reconstruction) Made in 1970, DIMI-A is one of the most iconic instruments designed by Finnish inventor and media art pioneer Erkki Kurenniemi (1941-2017). DIMI-A employs digital technology to explore different possibilities of electronic sounds. It is a programmable instrument with digital memory and a sequencer. It is operated by touching the metal sticks on the instrument’s touchpads: Left-hand plates define a arameter number and the right-hand plates adjust the parameter value. It was made possible to save up to 100 musical events on the timeline of 256 steps. However, the unconventional user interface together with unprofessional marketing efforts ensured that the instrument was never mass produced, and only two units were built. {TAxT 桃園科技藝術節 參展團隊} 林欣傑 Keith Lam 林欣傑,一個獲獎無數的新媒體創作人與common room & co. 空間經營者,近年來以《能量轉換》的概念,宣揚他對新媒體藝術的定義及理念,由能量而起,從身體思考介面:訊號輸入不同感官/接收器而輸出不同知覺,則若將訊號 視為一股能量,則聲色實為同一能量流轉於身體觸發各不同介面而生不同,如此,聲響可能置換影像,肢體伸展見光,隨地觸發,身體作為能量流動的真實呈現。 One Day Social Sculpture 當約瑟夫.波依斯由他的“社會雕塑”而提出“人人都是藝術家”的概念,每位藝術家/人都在分秒地通過不同的方式重塑或重造身處的社會,由現實的世界伸延或移轉到虛擬的世界:網際網路,或許更直接的說,社群網絡,這共同創造的網上宇宙是全然的虛擬,但同時又來自非虛擬的現實反應及行為,通過擷取來自社交網絡中各人的“行為貢獻”,把現實和虛擬世界合成,每天塑造一件真實雕塑:由網路延伸至社會雕塑概念的成果,把虛擬和現實社會的關係模糊掉。 Keith Lam,the multiple-awards winner is a new media artist and a proprietor of common room & co.. Recently has been promoting his idea and definition of new media arts as Transforming Energy. He believes all new media arts begin with energy. The human body is an interface: Incoming signals picked up by different sensory receptors result in different perceptions. If we were to consider all signals as a form of energy, sound and colors can be perceived differently by different parts of the body as interfaces. In this sense, sounds can be transformed into images. Stretched limbs reveal the light, spontaneously. The body is a true representation of energy flow. One Day Social Sculpture The concept of “Social Sculpture” comes from Joseph Beuys’ most famous quote, “Everyone is an artist”, and is based around the notion of creating sculptures out of society, in the process serving to reshape and remake our universe. This universe that “everyone” is “reshaping” or “remaking” has moved, or been extended, from the physical to the virtual; through the internet, and, specifically, through our contributions to social networks, the virtual world is constantly changing. The online version we are all creating together is thus in some ways a fake world, but at the same time it comes from the feedback and actions of the real world. “One Day Social Sculpture” extend the idea of “Social Sculpture” through an exploration of the notion that, through the internet, we are all artists. As a composite of the real and virtual worlds, it takes the daily contributions made by people to social networks, and then sculpts and shapes them into physical forms. The result is a series of “social sculptures” that blur the line between virtual and real

He was a resident artist at MIT Center for Art, Science & Technology. His has been invited to exhibit his work at MoMA. 1-Bit Symphony Tristan Perich tries to create 1-bit music using electronic parts and simple electrical circuits. The gadget is placed inside a CD case as a new form of sound device and mode of listening. The gadget evolves with time and now runs on mercury batteries. By studying the mediums of technology he find malleable metaphorical points to harken back to the themes. Such as, reconstructing the pixel of live image, manipulating the function of e-mail system, and the relationship between multi-channel images. he approach the subject and themes by means of single-channel video, instant image, video installation, sound effect, space, text, and even the internet. In the future In the future, the technique of message delivery is expected to become advanced. Distance is assumed to be eliminated, and images to be re-constructed. However, the essence of communication seems to contain more. Dollar-Post Dollar-post is a customized e-mail system. {TAxT 桃園科技藝術節 參展團隊} 王仲堃 Wang Chung-Kun 王仲堃的創作好似創造著各式各樣的機器,這些機器有著耐人尋味的單純性與獨特的美感,它們在感應觀眾靠近之際,不知疲憊地自顧自進行自己的運動,或發聲、或開關、或吐氣、或旋轉或叮噹,它們不僅僅執行簡單的單一動作,反之它們有著自己的節奏變化,既似頑愚,又似有靈。 嗶吐嗶 – 2017 作品延續自「聲瓶系列」,以空氣吹拂瓶子發聲的原理,發出如笛聲的自製樂器。而「嗶吐嗶」則改變以往利用水位高低來改變音高頻率的方式,將無調性的音頻轉變成數十隻長短不同如排笛音階的方式,可發出固定的音高,利用馬達帶動吹嘴的擺動,使用電腦程式與觀眾互動,在現場即時編曲。 Chung-Kun has created various forms of machinery that have consistently maintained an intriguing purity and peculiar sense of beauty. Rather, they have their own rhythm variation, as if they have a life of their own. be Tube - 2017 Piping sound is produced from a self-made musical instrument. It follows the same principle of ‘sound.of.bottles’ series which is to make sound by blowing air into the bottles. Instead of using the traditional method to change the high pitch frequency with different water level, beTube is able toproduce fixed high pitches by changing atonal tones into several long and short pan flute scales. {TAxT 桃園科技藝術節 參展團隊} 闞凱宇 Kai-Yu Kamm 闞凱宇畢業於交通大學建築研究所,為Fabraft Design Lab和MakerBar創辦人。同時具備創業者,設計師,藝術家的身份,長期透過數位製造進行創作及研究。堅信設計是一種行動,而各種形式的創作都是為了響應行動所做出的呼應,面對未來的社會需求,為迎接更開放且多元的跨領域合作而打造出MakerBar Taipei 的共創平台,期許透過開源的設計專案進行改造世界的理想。 位元陶計畫 土器為人類文明最早的製作物,承載了近六千年的文化行為。位元陶將當代資訊以數位工具交織進類比元素,表面紋理隨著創作工具的轉換而衍生了不同的風貌,信息在層層媒介的轉換下,以數位雕塑的構成回應了創作者與工具性即使在不同的時代下仍保持相同的聯結,在虛實轉換之下以數位工藝的格式封存在時間的洪流之中,在未來回顧當代數位工藝的實踐。 Kai-Yu Kamm was born 1984 in Taipei and graduated from National Chiao Tung University MS. He is an entrepreneur, designer, and artist, creating and study art through digital manufacturing for long term. He believes in design is an action, all forms of creation are correspondence of action. Facing future society needs, a co-making space, MakerBar Taipei, had built to accept a more liberal and diverse interdisciplinary cooperation. The vision is to recreate the world by getting on open source design projects. Binary Pottery Pottery is the product of early human civilization, embodying six thousand years of culture heritage. Binary Pottery weaves ditigal tools into analogue elements. Different tools result in different patterns and textures. Messages are converted via layers of media and shaped into a digital scupture, which goes to prove the connection between makers and tools transcends times. He uses images of different spaces to explore the contradiction and disruption at play in virtual reality; our consciousness and body forces when we come into contact with digital technology. He has received scholarships from Asian Cultural Council and Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris and has been given residency at Headland Center for the Arts in San Francisco. He has also worked as the first resident artist at the invitation of 1a space and Hong Kong Arts Development Council, and been given residency at Nordic Institute for Contemporary Art. Panopticon Visitors will feel their bodies being carried slowly from the physical space of the venue to the vast virtual space, and then, after a while, back to the physical space of the gallery. {TAxT 桃園科技藝術節 參展團隊} 鄭先喻 Hsien Yu Cheng 鄭先喻的創作以電子裝置、軟體、生物電子實驗裝置為主,內容多在探 討人類行為、情感、軟體與機械之間的關係,試圖以詼諧的方 式去賦予作品某種生命象徵或是存在意義,藉此隱喻自身對於 周遭環境的體會。其目前專注於生物與電子學相關研究、自由能源以及智能聲響、創作工具軟硬體的開發與創作。 生命值量化 收集現實世界的生命轉入虛擬遊戲中;裝置本身成為真實與虛擬生命之間的中介容器,經由終結昆蟲生命的數量於裝置上的顯示器以總累計數值的方式顯示,並對等轉生至遊戲中成為昆蟲角色的生命量,隨觀眾進行遊戲時所損失的生命數量至0時,遊戲則無法進行,裝置會要求等待收集新的生命。 Most of Hsien Yu Cheng's works are electronic installations, software, experimental bio-electronic devices. His works are concerned with the relationship between human behavior, emotion, software and machine. He tries to bring out the meaning of life through his works that are filled with his own observation and feelings toward society & environment in a humorous way. He currently focuses on bioelectronic researches, such as free-energy, intelligent sound and developing creative art tools (software and hardware). Afterlife Ver. 2.0 In this Project Hsien Yu Cheng try to reduce and magnify the scale of life, let this work can collect life by itself and transfer into a virtual environment to create a kind of afterlife. The virtual environment is a game called “life invader”. On the device, there is a display shows the amount of life collected by installation, and this amount will be the hero’s life of this game. So if audience plays the game and lose the life of hero, the number shows on the display will be decreased. When the number turns to “0”, that means the installation itself have to collect new life for continuing the game. {TAxT 桃園科技藝術節 參展團隊} 李婉菁 Sandra Wuan-Chin Li 李婉菁現為台北牯嶺街小劇場/ 身體氣象館聲⾳與⾳樂策展人之一。並於輔仁大學及清華大學任教,與不同類型領域的創作人如音樂人、劇場等合作,亦積極培養音樂新銳。創作風格以冷冽的電子音色表現最真摯的人性面,創作形式結合電腦音樂、配樂作曲、黑腔形式、聲音採集混音與環境音樂等跨越古典、電子異響、重金屬搖滾、劇場等。 扮仙 “扮仙”是ㄧ首電腦音樂環環繞混音的作品,故事是關於一個八家將少年的清醒夢境。在深夜的廟會後,疲憊的八家將少年入了夢境,在夢中持續地跳著陣勢,無法停止,直到他真的成仙。利用 5.1 聲道環繞音響系統的使用,表現出八家將在廟會陣頭中的氣勢與聲響,取樣的鼓聲在特殊處理後從不同方向疊入,不同層次的聲音組合,時而交錯,時而結合,時而各自獨立,代表著八家將少年在夢中神遊於不同的空間與世界,也特別使用了台灣道士使用的手鑼取樣音色,呈現於不同聲音變化模組中,融入安神的元素,並藉以與陣頭的勇猛相對比。曾經在少年時期居住在台南廟宇巷弄之間的創作者,希望藉由電腦音樂的形式,將家鄉迷人的八家將廟會陣勢與風采帶到世界各地。 “扮仙”獲選音樂資訊檢索領域專業級別的年度國際學術會議展演(International Society for music information retrieval [ISMIR], 2014, 台灣)、電聲暨音樂大會(Sound and Music Computing Conference [SMC], 2015, 愛爾蘭)、2016 klingt gut! 聲音研討會 ( 2016 klingt gut! Symposium on Sound,德國)。發表於2017 紐約電子音樂節。 Sandra Wuan-Chin Li is a former keyboardist of the classical ensemble "Indulge" and the well-know metal band "Chthonic". She is the composer for the TV documentary "Unknown Taiwan" produced by the Discovery Channel. Also, she was the artistic director of the musical "Dark Baroque.” Her musical works crossover between classical and fine art, film and documentaries. Since 2013, She started to work for theatre computer music workshops, encourage young musicians to work with deeper think-through creativities and collaborate with other international artists. She is currently one of the curators of sound and music in Guling Street Avant-Garde Theatre, Taipei, also a faculty member of Fu-jen Unversity and National Tsing Hua University. Ban Shan Ban Shan—Taiwanese for “play god”—is a story about a “Ba Jia Jiang,” a young medium who also represents the bodyguards of Taiwanese god. He had a lucid dream after a temple fair until midnight. The young medium kept dancing in the dream until he finally became one of the gods. In order to draw out the scene of the temple fair in Taiwan, in which “Ba Jia Jiang” mediums dance in martial troupes with firecrackers and Taiwanese gongs sounding, a version of 5.1-surround sound was designed for this work. {TAxT 桃園科技藝術節 參展團隊} 純禾作 Pure Do 由陳依純與羅禾淋組成的跨域新媒體藝術團體。陳依純專業於平面繪畫、造型設計、影像動畫;羅禾淋專攻程式設計、機構動力裝置,作品可見於各地新媒體電子藝術節和美術館,運用資訊與數位角度詮釋裝置藝術表現形式如結合書法資訊化與舞蹈《光之行氣》、資訊雕塑化《光風暴》、資訊拓樸《拭痕-台北當代藝術館》、資訊戲劇化《都市劇》等。 找尋妖精的詩句 – 光景桃園 城市拓樸做為一種人們重新思考自身與居所之間的關係,我們將透過光來書寫城市與我們之間的縫隙。尋找妖精的詩句,是一個現地創作的藝術計劃,透過長曝攝影術與光跡繪畫,把城市中的記憶用心中的一句話來定義,如同找尋妖精在其中留藏的詩句。我們將用光來拓樸城市的面貌,並再次觀看城市與我們之間的距離。 此現地計劃將舉行光景桃園工作坊,透過工作坊教導參與大眾如何用光來作畫,並用光來書寫記憶之景,再創作一幅城市影像,重新觀看自己的家鄉,共同創作之結果將成為共同創作的一部份,並且在展覽現場展出。 I-Chun Chen teams up with He-Lin Luo to create Pure Do, an interdiscipline new media art group. Chen specializes in graphic design, shape design, animations, while Luo specializes in programming and mechanical devices. Their works can be seen in many new media electronic art festival and art museums, using IT and digitization to interpret different forms of art, e.g. the digitizing calligraphy and choreography in Light Calligraphy, IT sculpting in The Light in the Storm, IT topography in Elapse Trace, and IT dramatization in Urban Drama, etc. Looking for fairy verse - light in Taoyuan Urban topography is a reflection on ourselves and our dwellings. Here lights expose the gaps between the city and individuals. Looking for fairy verse - light in Taoyuan is an on-site art project. Using long exposure photography to capture light traces, memories in the city are condensed into one verse, as if looking for the fairy verses hidden within. We will use light to map out the cityscape and make another observation on how far the city and ourselves are apart. This on-site project will be the venue for Light in Taoyuan Workshop, where participants will learn how to paint with light sources. Light will be used as a medium to transcribe memories onto canvas. Paricipants will then collaborate to create a city image, taking a different look at the city where they call home. {TAxT 桃園科技藝術節 參展團隊} 亞蘭·巴特霍爾 Aram Bartholl 亞蘭·巴特霍爾的作品主題經常圍繞在網路、文化與現實,探討著我們視為理所當然的溝通模式對人們的影響,不只是人們如何的使用媒體,而是媒體同時是如何的形塑我們。他的作品的核心觸及公共與私人、在線與離線、技術與日常的關係,時常以實體與類比的方式表現數位世界,挑戰我們對現實與無形的觀念與想像。 低頭區 靈感來自從德國聯邦鐵路於各個車站設置的露天吸菸區,於開放空間中以特定區域設置標記,標上黃色記號畫出矩形範圍,並將其定義為手機使用區,這範圍畫定的概念,傳達在開放場域構成為特定目的存在,充滿概念性的虛擬空間,但又與原本空間開放性產生矛盾感。 Aram Bartholl's work features the Internet, culture and reality, which sets out to explore the consequences of the means of communication taken-for-granted: How people use the media and vise versa. Bartholl's work explores the relations at play in public vs. private, online vs. offline, and technology vs. everyday routines. By showing the digital world in physical and analogical representations, his work essentially challenges our understanding and imagining of the reality and the virtual. Phonezone The Deutsche Bahn railway is very much known its smoking areas on open air train platforms all over Germany. These areas are marked in a rectangular shape with yellow tape on the ground, in a paradox way closing off a 'virtual' space bound to a specific function. {TAxT 桃園科技藝術節 參展團隊} 李明道 AKIBO Robots AKIBO為台灣流行音樂創作經典包裝設計如羅大佑、陳昇、伍佰、阿妹、五月天等,具其個人色彩的機器人系列作品常見台灣各地,亦擔綱活動設計如2009高雄世運開幕秀、2016台北白晝之夜藝術總監、台北世大運開閉幕創意總監,從純藝術創作擴及到商業品牌、表演藝術、公共藝術,作品在未來科幻、本土色彩與華麗繁複之間,創造出深具魅力的個人風格。 機器人的夢想銀河探險 10年前,思念遠在溫哥華的兩個兒子的AKIBO創作了AkiAkis.com網路故事,講述Bubble、Tano、Fu三個機器人一起潛水探險的故事,開啟AKIBO最早創作的機器人角色。三頭六臂是為2011年台北國際設計大展所創作的角色,象徵每位設計師都是無所不能的創作者,後來AKIBO給三頭六臂一個暱稱SeiGei,來自設計的台語,如今兒子們長大了,藝術家打造一艘銀河小艇讓AkiAkis三個好朋友由SeiGei陪伴著,開始一場生命的探險,意喻人生像是無垠的銀河宇宙充滿機會等著我們去探索;旅程中要保有孩子般純真的心,也要善用自己的創造力! AKIBO is the brain behind many classic album covers, including those of pop music artists Lo Ta-yo, Bobby Chen, Wubai, A-mei, and Mayday. His iconic colored robot series is all over Taiwan. He was also the event designer for the opening ceremony of World Games 2009 Kaohsiung, the art supervisor for the 2016 Nuit Blanche in Taipei, and creative supervisor for the closing ceremony of Universiade Taipei 2017. He has expanded his reach from fine art to commercial branding, performance art, and public art. Straddling futuristic sci-fi, local characters, and fancy art deco, his work is a true embodiment of his unique personal style. MILKY WAY CRUISE Ten years ago, as a father missing his two sons living in Vancouver, AKIBO started writing online stories at AkiAkis.com. They were stories about three robots, Bubble, Tano and Fu who went scuba diving. It launched AKIBO into robot storytelling. He created a character "Master D" for the 2011 Taipei World Design Expo as a statement that every designer is an all powerful master of creation. AKIBO later went on to nickname this character SeiGei, an English transcription of "design" in the Taiwanese dialect. With his own two sons all grown up, AKIBO sends AkiAkis and friends on a journey of life, in the company of SeiGei, riding a galaxy shuttle. This is his message saying life is like a galaxy with endless possibilities that await exploring. {TAxT 桃園科技藝術節 參展團隊} 王福瑞 Fujui Wang 王福瑞為台灣探討數位與聲音藝術不能錯過的重要藝術家與策展人,帶領台灣聲音藝術進入嶄新領域,1993年成立台灣首個實驗音樂廠牌和出版刊物「Noise」,現任北藝大新媒系助理教授。2015年與藝術家盧藝成立「響相工作室Soundwatch Studio」,推動海內外聲音藝術展演及工作坊,該工作室致力嘗試以創新實驗性的聲音作為主要核心概念,執行聲音藝術相關創作與推廣計畫。 移動的聲林 在數位資訊的當代,我們以0與1的形式來處理與傳遞電腦訊息;以透過大量光點的明、暗,使我們感知圖像訊息。而這最小單位的構成與流動,也令人重新思考「聲音」創作的本質。《聲點》是由數百個喇叭所構成的作品,每個喇叭經由晶片運算而產生不同的音頻,有如數百個頻道的聲響在空間中迴盪,透過數百如點的發聲體,大量高速、亂數控制的聲音點之流射,使欣賞者進入超驗的意識流動狀態。 Fujui Wang is an artist and curator specialized in sound art and interactive art whose work has played a key role in establishing sound as a new artistic genre in Taiwan. A pioneer of sound art in Taiwan,in 1993 he founded NOISE,the country’s first experimental sound label. He is currently an assistant professor of the Taipei National University of the Arts. In 2015, Fujui Wang and another artist Yi Lu have co-founded the Soundwatch Studio to promote the creation, exhibition, performance and workshop of renovating and experimental audio art both locally and internationally. Moving Sound Forest Now in the information technology era, we use 0 and 1 to deal with and to transmit all the data. Through switching light on and off, we sense the image and receive the message. The composition of 0 and 1 transforms the way of sound creation, that sound is composed by switching sound on and off. "Sound Dots" is composed by hundreds of speakers with different frequency from each speaker. Overall in this project you can hear a variety of sound creation. {TAxT 桃園科技藝術節 參展團隊} 蔡宜婷 Yi-Ting Tsai 蔡宜婷從雕塑背景出發結合動力機械到光影裝置,創作面向多元,但始終關心人與社會關係,認為藝術創作就像是在追尋那時代空虛的解藥。近期以機械動力裝置提煉一種生命運動中的恆定狀態。作爲人之於時空間裡宏觀與微觀的反思,存在質量的測量,持續嘗試以輕重、虛實的雕塑物件與數位媒介結合應⽤創作。 時間裡的他方 「存在,就是此時此刻」 他停止了,我帶他回家,為他做一條跑帶,讓他不停止於前進。 作品開始於一次二手市場裡遇上的一輛玩具小車。我為它做了一條跑帶,跑帶一直運轉,他一直在原地的跑,未來即刻成為過去,他因運轉而活著,活著的只有當下。因為太渺小了,未來即逝成為過去,未來已經一去不返,一切都是此時此刻。 Yi-Ting Tsai was born and bred in Tainan and now lives in Taipei. She started in sculpture art before branching out into mechanical kinetics and eventually to lighting and imaging devices. Beneath her multifaceted work, she remains mindful of the relationship between people and the society. Tsai believes making art is an antidote of the pervailing sense of emptiness in the contemporary world. Her most recent works comprise of kinetic devices that represent life's constant movement. Her work is a reflection on human existence in time and space, in both macro and micro sense, weighing on the quality of being. She will continue her quest in making sculptures juxtaposing the light and the heavy and the virtual and the physical, in combination with digital media. Somewhere in Time "To be is the here and now" It had stopped moving. I brought it home and made it a conveyor belt to keep it moving forward. It all began with a small toy car I saw in a flea market. I made a conveyor belt for it. The belf churns nonstop. The toy car moves but stays in one place. The future immediately becomes the past. The churning gives the car a sense of being; being is the here and now. The car is so small, the future immediately becomes the past. Once gone it is gone forever. Invisible sound waves are transmitted through physical media before the human brains give meaning and perceptions to them. We find joy in detecting the variations, emotions and hidden messages in the sounds. As Pierre Schaeffer says: The world changes materialistically; science advances technology and knowledge, but only the human world remains constant. Even as sound production has evolved from analogue to digital, the nature of the sound remains the same.
