I don’t usually post breakfast because typically it’s eaten in the car on the way to work - cold frittata muffins and a banana, on mornings when I’m really pressed for time - a handful of baby carrots and a larabar. But today I’m working to meet a deadline from my bedroom bunker, especially after I lost a whole day yesterday to the parade of repairmen coming through my house - the bunker provides less distractions than in my office. That means breakfast was significantly better than my in the car meals. Chorizo frittata, sweet potato cake, and an avocado with salsa. I love starting the day with avocado - the healthy fat gives my brain a boost and helps me feel energized all day long. #whole30 #januarywhole30 #eatclean #itstartswithfood #eatcleanandprosper

This isn’t pretty but it is hefty!! Second day of my #whole30 #veganketochallenge. I made chia seed pudding with unsweetened almond milk, raw almond butter, pea protein, and 1/4 cup of blueberries. As i said before, pea protein is my only “modification” because i need it for a complete protein source and to stick as close to my macros as possible. This dish is about 435 cals, 22g fat, 3.5 net carbs, and a whopping 38g of protein! rainy mornings call for pjs and mini waffles 😝🙌🏼 definetly more of a banana chocolate chip person when it comes to pancakes or waffles but switched it up this morning with these ✨ BANANA SPICE WAFFLES (v/gf/paleo) ✨ ft. @siggisdairy new no sugar added yogurt 👉👉 1 mashed banana + splash of non dairy milk (add more after dry ingredients to desired consistency) + 2 tsp maple syrup + 1 tsp vanilla extract + 3/4 tsp baking soda + 1 cup @bobsredmill paleo baking flour + 1 scoop @vitalproteins collagen (adds a good amount of protein since this recipe doesn’t include eggs), topped with banana/cinnamon @siggisdairy and @purely_elizabeth pumpkin spice grain free granola ✨🥞

My meal prepping this week consists of spaghetti squash pizza bowls (check out @paleobailey for the recipe!) and an egg bake for breakfast . Unfortunately I haven’t been able to enjoy these much because I pushed myself too hard at the orangetheory yesterday morning and threw up 😩 that made me kinda nauseous for the rest of the day and lacking an appetite through today. Yesterday I was able to make a smoothie and then for dinner I had noodless chicken soup from Whole Foods and some grain free chips (thanks for the recommendation @jessiebremseth!) I also had some ginger ale which is obviously not #whole30compliantbut I needed something to settle my stomach. Today I’m not very hungry but managed to eat some egg dish and grapes so far. Hopefully my appetite returns and I can eat my yummy spaghetti squash bowl after work! Talking the day off of exercise because I think my body needs it. I have been living in "BALANCE" since September. Balance is great. I celebrated it. But now I am taking myself out of balance because I wanted more. . I balanced healthy eating with my treats and drinks. I worked out 30 minutes at home. I practiced yoga when I have time and meditate if I don't push snooze. I took my thyroid meds and supplements. When I ate things that inflame me I did only in moderation. . The scale was solid + or - 3 pounds The tale of the tape didn't move but an inch here or there. . Some would say congratulations you found your healthy lifestyle! I said it. I celebrated it. . But I wanted more, I was curious, what else is possible? . I wanted a challenge and to learn new things. . I wanted to #levelup⬆️ . I invited some friends to join me as we push ourselves to the next step. Some are just taking their first step into fitness. Some are training for a half marathon. We continue to push ourselves to the next level. . Are you ready to level up. Enrollment now open, we start February 11. Love yourself this February enough to get out of your own dam way!

With the @emfitchallenge finishing up yesterday, and everyone in the home stretch of their #januarywhole30 and @21daysugardetox and other resolutions, I think it’s time to revisit a post I recently published about non-scale victories—go to the link in my profile and click on “Non-Scale Victories (How Nutritional Therapy Helped My Yoga Practice)”. . I would encourage you to not mark your progress by numbers on the scale, for several reasons. 1️⃣ You may have gained muscles. Especially if you are doing a program with a strength component like #crossfitor one of @emilyschromm’s Get Strong programs (highly recommend btw, link in profile). Measurements, pictures, and judging by how your clothes fit is a better marker of progress. 2️⃣ Health is not defined by a number on the scale (and this is what my post really gets at). Before you begin dropping pounds, IF your body thinks you need to lose any to begin with, it might need to sort some other things out. For example: hormones balance, liver function, immune support, adrenal recovery and cortisol regulation, GUT HEALING, etc. Your body will, and SHOULD, prioritize these things. 3️⃣ Give it more time. You have probably spent an entire lifetime making poor dietary choices (or the ones the government recommends 🙃); to expect to undo that all in 21 days, or 30 days, or even 3 months is not only unfair to your body but also would be pretty unhealthy and unsustainable. And if you’ve done a calorie restricted program (for example, Weight Watchers) before? You’ll need some extra patience to allow your body to sort out its metabolism. If you have restricted calories in the past, your body probably thought it was starving. It’s going to remember that and hold on to as much weight as it can because it doesn’t want you to starve again. . Remember: Your body is never working against you. Trust the innate intelligence of your body. Listen to your body and be kind to it. Stop ignoring what it has to say, and stop being mean to it.
