This week was hard.
I started Monday on the wrong foot. I didn’t like the number on the scale, was dealing with work related stress, found the LONGEST grey hair ever, and was just feeling off. I was in a real salty mood all week but continued thru the motion defeated and hungry. I didn’t make the best food decisions and found myself angry, more like Hangry for most of the week.
On Thursday, I had a conversation with my Dad where something just clicked. I stopped complaining and stopped being angry because of things I could not control. I promised myself I would erase all the negative energy and just hit “Reset”! Didn’t matter the day of the week, calendar or year. I was hitting “reset” and I was going to shake off the negative vibe and remind myself WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE! And reminding myself, you can only do so much. As long as you gave it your all and made a conscious effort to do your best, at the end of the day you could rest easy with a clear conscious and a satisfied heart.
Today, a usual cheat and off day, I woke up at 7:15 and prepared to make the journey into the city. I was determined to get a long distance run, whatever the distance, on the route I fell in love with running.
Sun beaming, crisp air filling my lungs, adrenaline pumping my heart and Energizer running thru my veins I completed 6.1 miles with much ease. In the past I would run this route giving myself pep talks and mini benchmarks of either 3 or 10 blocks to run without stopping. Today, I put my earbuds in, head down and just ran. Without even realizing I was reaching 1, 2, 4 mile benchmarks and felt great! Without panting or excuses to stop. I’m unbelievably proud of myself. Today, I gain the confidence needed to crush 13.1 miles. I realized I’m in much better condition than I realized.
13.1 I’m READY. NYC I LOVE you for your majestic beauty and energy to make a person feel as if they could FLY.
If you can find it in your heart and if your wallet can afford it, please help me reach my fundraising benchmark, because I know the distance WONT be a problem!
