Deepika Padukone (born January 5, 1986) is an Indian actress and model. Her debut was held in the film in the language of Kannada Aishwarya in 2006. The following year she made her debut in Hindi films with the film Om Shanti Om. In 2014, she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. She is one of the most popular and attractive people in the country.

Padukone was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, to a Catholic family from Mangalore. The native language of Deepika is Konkani. Her father, Prakash Padukone, a former player in badminton world-class, and his mother - a travel agent. When she was eleven months old, her family moved to Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Dipika has a younger sister, Anisha, born on February 2, 1991.

Padukone was in high school "Sofia" in Bangalore and then in college Carmel Mount. While still in school, she played badminton, like her father and her grandfather. Nevertheless, the career of a player in badminton did not attract her. In 2005, she entered the Indira Gandhi National Open University to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology. Subsequently, due to the tight work schedule, she switched to distance learning.

While still in college, Padukone started her career in the modelling business. She was seen at the competition at the National Law School in Bangalore, and, soon, she made her debut on the podium at Lakme Fashion Week in 2005. Over the years, she participated in photo shoots for various Indian brands like Liril, the Dabur Lal, the Close-the Up and the Limca. And she has been "brand ambassador" at the jewelry exhibition "Treasures of India." Cosmetic company "Maybelline" has made her its international representative.

Paducone first appeared on the big screen in the romantic comedy Aishwarya in 2006, where she played along with the actor Upendra. The film was a great success at the box office. Her debut in Bollywood in 2007 in the blockbuster Om Shanti Om was even more successful. The plot of the film was tied to a popular in India theme of reincarnation and the role of Deepika in it was double. Her work was well received, the actress received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut, as well as her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

Then came the role of the modern Indian girl Gayatri in the romantic comedy Siddhartha Ananda "Beware, beauties." The film was quite successful at the box office, but her performance of the role was criticized. In 2009, a comic thriller "From Chandni Chowka to China" was released, in which she again played a dual role. The film was not successful either by the public or critics, and Deepika received mostly negative reviews for her work.

However, Paducone's next film, the romantic drama "Love Yesterday and Today" turned out to be one of the main hits of 2009. The role of Paducone - World Pandit, a stubborn careerist, caused an ambiguous reaction of critics. Despite this, she received her second Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

In 2015, Deepika starred in the movie "Pick" with Amitabh Bachchan. Reviews of the film were positive, the film earned ? 1.40 billion at the box office, becoming a box-office hit.

Later that year, the actress played the role of a businesswoman, who helps the character Ranbir Kapoor find himself in Imtiaz Ali's romantic drama "The Performance". Despite the poor financial results, Sukanya Verma called Deepika the best actress this year. In late 2015, Deepika starred in the historical drama Sanjay Lila Bhansali " Bajirao and Mastani " with Ranvir Singh and Priyanka Chopra. The film earned 3.3 billion rupees ($ 51 million) and became the fourth highest grossing Indian film of the year. In 2017, the actress played a major female role in the Hollywood film "Three X's: World Domination" with Vin Diesel. The film earned over 345 million dollars worldwide and became for her a debut on the international screen.

At the moment, Padmavati's film Sanjay Lila Bhansali is preparing for the entrance in the genre of the historical drama, where she will play along with Ranvir Singh and Shahid Kapoor. However, the date of its release is still unknown. In addition, she starred in a gangster film with Irfan Khan, which has no name yet.
