// When I started this account for my business, I wasn’t sure if I would share anything about being a mother. I wondered if I would look unprofessional if I posted about motherhood or if potential clients would doubt my ability to handle their project if they saw I had kids at home. But as much as I identify as an artist, a creator, a businesswoman, and an individual, I am also a mom. On this day 5 years ago my baby girl was born and my life was forever changed. We had planned to be parents and we called this baby in, but I had no idea what we would get.Ellie is an Aries sun, Libra moon, and Sagittarius rising. She is my mirror, my button pusher, and my expander. She lives hard, sings loud, and dances when people are looking. She is a boss, she is a party, and she is a lover and creator of beauty. There are many ways I aspire to be more like her, and many things she is teaching me about myself. Motherhood is a wild ride. When it comes to my business and creative pursuits, it both holds me back and propels me forward. I’m more empathetic, more sensitive, and more intuitive because of my babies, and I’m also more determined and efficient with my time because of them. So here’s to doing business your way, or any way that works for you and your loved ones. Here’s to giving to others and also your self. Here’s to recognizing all you do and cutting yourself some slack when you can’t do all that you want to do. Here’s to all the seasons of life and joys and frustrations that they bring. And happy 5th birthday to Ellie Maple Michka.Photo: iPhone 4 on self timer (I wish I had professional photos of my pregnancies).
